What Is Loop Engineering? When AI Agents Self-Correct

About this video
What is Loop Engineering? How can an AI agent do work, check the result, fix errors and decide the next step without a person constantly entering prompts?
Loop Engineering is the practice of designing loops for an AI agent, where the system orchestrates execution, verification, adjustment and stopping when the goal is reached or a permitted limit is hit.
The idea developed from foundations such as ReAct (Reasoning and Acting) in 2022, the Ralph Wiggum Loop technique introduced by Geoffrey Huntley in 2025, and the Loop Engineering approach systematized by Addy Osmani in June 2026.
Instead of only generating code, a coding agent can run tests, receive feedback, analyze errors and continue fixing. However, an automated loop still needs stopping conditions, token limits, budget and monitoring.
In this video, you will explore:
- What Loop Engineering is and how it differs from Prompt, Context and Harness Engineering.
- The origin from ReAct to the Ralph Wiggum Loop.
- How an AI agent reasons, acts, observes and adjusts.
- Experimental evidence from ReAct research.
- Why verifying results and knowing when to stop matter as much as automation.
